The exhibition projects presented in this Curating section are the public extension of my intimate painting practice. Indeed, just as I, as a painter, seek to reveal the waves and vibrations in matter, I, as a curator, conceive works at the heart of which I question the possibility of flows and resonances between beings, works at the heart of which I question the possibility of flows and resonances between beings. During my years as mayor of the 19th arrondissement (between 2008 and 2013), against a backdrop of political crisis and the atomization of individuals, it seemed to me more than necessary - as an activist - to take action of political crisis and the atomization of individuals, it seemed to me more than necessary - militant - to devise to design artistic itineraries focusing on otherness and its corollary, the fight against communitarianism. I therefore invited French and international artists (Sammy Baloji, Kapwani Kiwanga, Valérie Jouve, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Jacqueline Salmon...) whose practice, committed to real life, aims to decompartmentalize identities (social, religious, etc.) identities (social, religious, etc.): whether, as part of the Chinafrique curatorship, it's bringing Jews and Muslims meet in butcher's shops to discuss the transformation of livestock the transformation of livestock into meat (CARNE), or questioning, in the in situ space of the cemetery, our relationship with mourning and disappearance (4'33"), my curatorial work has fed into and drawn from the source of what drives my painting today: a desire to observe encounters - between human and between human and non-human entities - to capture the unexpected, silent forms through which a community is formed. The devices of my curating and my painting respond to each other: soaking up an environment, patiently allowing the lines of the lines of exchange between its elements (FLUXXY, Festival Les Uns Chez les Autres, 52 different editions). Such is the case of the peat bog community, created in the wake of the Free bog project itself initially created and inspired by the spongy, liquid soils of the Limousin region - a device of immersion of the body in the heart of peat bogs, which is now expanding its founding gesture: listening attentively to an environment and capturing its energies human and cosmic energies that unfold there. An aesthetic attitude as much as a political one as it observes the trace left by otherness. Creating collaborative platforms between players, revealing the traces through which a common body is formed - in the city, in the countryside - these are all elements that reflect my commitment as a curator and my sensibility as an artist.
