Papillon
(2016)L’histoire textile des industries Lang-Schlumberger de Waldighoffen et la rencontre avec ses habitant.e.s, en particulier les ouvrières de l’usine, m’ont inspiré, au pied des vestiges de l’ancien bâtiment, la sculpture Papillon, du nom de la coiffe portée par les femmes alsaciennes. Papillon est une apparition dans la nature sundgauvienne aux lectures multiples. Un vaisseau spatial semble s’être posé sur terre. Son reflet dans l’eau construit l’image des ailes. La sculpture se transforme au gré de nos déplacements et des variations de la nature. Le jour, les ailes s’illuminent grâce à la réflexion des rayons du soleil sur son revêtement. La nuit, au gré des déplacements de lumière, Papillon recompose des variations esthétiques et des atmosphères sensorielles laissant place aux métamorphoses.

The textile history of the Lang-Schlumberger industries in Waldighoffen and my encounters with its inhabitants, in particular the factory workers, inspired me to create the Papillon sculpture at the foot of the remains of the old building, named after the headdress worn by Alsatian women. Papillon is an apparition of nature in the Sundgau region with multiple interpretations. A spaceship seems to have landed on earth. Its reflection in the water creates the image of wings. The sculpture is transformed by our movements and the variations in nature. By day, the wings are illuminated by the reflection of the sun's rays on its covering. At night, as the light changes, Papillon recomposes aesthetic variations and sensory atmospheres, giving way to metamorphoses.
